At Brilliant Read Media, it is our constant endeavour to identify and share some of the unique and compelling stories from the startup ecosystem. As part of this, we invited Abhishek Dhawan for an interview with Brilliant Read Media. To say further, Abhishek is an Entrepreneur and Founder at Forest Bloom Pvt Ltd. Let’s learn more about his background, inspiring journey so far and his advice for our growing community!
Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Abhishek:
Could you please talk us through your background and your journey?
I am an alumnus of PGIMS Rohtak, where I completed my foundational education in Dental and Oral Surgery, followed by advanced training in Bone and Implant Surgery in Alabama, Georgia, USA, under the mentorship of Dr. Maurice Salama. I also hold an MBA in Healthcare Management from Apollo Institute, Hyderabad.
I began my clinical practice in 2013 and have since performed over 6,000 surgical procedures. In recognition of my clinical excellence and contribution to oral surgery, I was honoured with the Excellence in Oral Surgery award in 2020, 2021, and 2025 by leading national publications, including Dainik Bhaskar, The Times of India, and Dainik Jagran, presented by the Honourable Health Minister of Punjab.
Driven by a growing passion for healthcare innovation, I transitioned into the HealthTech and MedTech space and founded Forest Bloom Tech in February 2025—an ML/AI-driven medical technology IP company.
We have successfully secured our first provisional patent for an Automated Vein Access System, marking a significant step toward improving precision, efficiency, and patient safety in clinical procedures.
My work today bridges clinical expertise and deep-tech innovation, with a mission to build scalable, intelligent medical devices that meaningfully improve healthcare delivery.
‘Forest Bloom’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?
The name Forest Bloom was inspired by the intelligence of natural forest ecosystems—where millions of individual life forms remain deeply interconnected through complex, self-organising networks.
This mirrors the human body’s neural architecture, where each cell communicates continuously through the central and peripheral nervous systems to sustain life, balance, and healing.
At Forest Bloom Tech, we draw from this biological intelligence to design medical technologies that function as integrated, adaptive systems rather than isolated tools.
One of the most fundamental procedures in healthcare—from diagnosis to emergency treatment—is venous access. Despite being performed billions of times worldwide each year, this process remains largely manual, unchanged since its inception.
Clinical data and real-world practice reveal failure rates of up to 40%, particularly among critically ill patients, the elderly, pediatric cases, and individuals with compromised veins. These failures result in:
– Multiple needle pricks and patient trauma
– Increased risk of cross-infection
– Heightened anxiety and loss of patient trust
– Delays in critical treatment and emergency care
– Growing medico-legal exposure for healthcare institutions
As a surgeon who has worked extensively in high-pressure clinical environments, I witnessed these challenges firsthand.
To address this systemic gap, we developed Vein Mate Auto — an AI/ML-powered automated vein access system designed to bring precision, safety, and consistency to one of healthcare’s most basic yet high-impact procedures.
Vein Mate Auto combines medical imaging, intelligent vessel detection, and robotic micro-actuation to:
– Identify optimal veins in real time
– Reduce multiple insertion attempts
– Minimise human error
– Lower infection and complication rates
– Accelerate emergency response timelines
This innovation represents not just a device, but a shift toward intelligent, human-centric procedural automation in medicine.
What differentiates your work from others in your field?
What differentiates my work is a strong focus on solving real problems with practical, impact-driven solutions. I combine innovation with execution, ensuring ideas translate into measurable outcomes rather than staying theoretical.
I place equal importance on user needs, safety, and scalability, and I approach challenges with persistence and adaptability. This balance of purpose, discipline, and continuous learning allows my work to stand out and create lasting value.
Despite the challenges, what keeps you going when things get tough?
What keeps me going when things get tough is a deep sense of purpose. I believe meaningful problems are rarely easy to solve—and that difficulty is often a sign the work truly matters.
When challenges arise, I remind myself why I started: to create something that makes a real difference and to push boundaries rather than remain comfortable.
I draw strength from progress, even small wins, because they prove that effort compounds over time. Setbacks don’t discourage me; they sharpen my focus, strengthen my judgment, and deepen my resilience.
Knowing that persistence today can lead to impact tomorrow is what keeps me moving forward, no matter how demanding the journey becomes.
What are the three most important lessons you have learned in your life?
The first lesson I’ve learned is that consistency matters more than talent. Small, disciplined actions repeated daily create outcomes that motivation alone can never sustain.
The second is that failure is not a dead end, but a teacher. Every setback has forced me to adapt, improve, and return with greater clarity and stronger judgment.
And the third is the power of purpose. When your work is anchored to a larger “why,” challenges become meaningful rather than draining. Purpose provides direction, builds resilience, and gives you the courage to move forward even when the path ahead is uncertain.
How do you define leadership in today’s evolving world?
Leadership in today’s evolving world is about influence, responsibility, and adaptability rather than authority alone. It means setting a clear vision, empowering others to do their best work, and leading with empathy and integrity.
A true leader listens, learns continuously, and makes thoughtful decisions in the face of uncertainty. In a fast-changing environment, leadership is also about embracing change, fostering collaboration, and staying grounded in purpose while guiding others forward.
In your opinion, what are the keys to success?
In my view, the foundations of success are clarity, consistency, and resilience.
Clarity provides direction—understanding not just what you want, but why you want it. It anchors decisions and prevents distraction. Consistency transforms intention into progress through disciplined, repeated action over time. And resilience ensures that setbacks don’t define the outcome; instead, they become part of the learning process.
When these qualities are combined with integrity and a commitment to continuous learning, success becomes sustainable rather than temporary.
What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?
My advice is to focus on learning before chasing titles. Build strong fundamentals, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to start small or make mistakes early—those experiences accelerate real growth.
Develop skills that compound over time. Communication, problem-solving, and adaptability remain valuable in every field and at every stage of a career. Seek mentors, but also take full ownership of your own development.
Most importantly, be patient and persistent. A successful career is not built overnight; it is built by showing up consistently, acting ethically, and aligning your work with a genuine sense of purpose.
What legacy do you hope your work creates?
I hope my work creates a legacy of patient-centric innovation—where technology genuinely reduces pain, risk, and inefficiency in healthcare. Through VeinMate Auto, I aim to make vein access safer, faster, and more reliable, especially in high-pressure clinical environments.
The goal is to reduce failed attempts, minimise patient discomfort, support healthcare staff, and improve overall care quality. Beyond a single product, I hope the legacy is one of building solutions that combine compassion with engineering, setting a standard for how thoughtful automation can elevate healthcare outcomes for both patients and professionals.
Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?
a) Building something meaningful from the ground up— turning an idea into real-world impact is deeply satisfying.
b) Solving real problemsthat affect people’s lives makes the journey purposeful, not just professional.
c) Continuous learning and growth— every challenge pushes me to think better, adapt faster, and improve.
d) Seeing progress, not just outcomes— small wins along the way make the journey exciting and rewarding.
e) Working at the intersection of innovation and impact, where technology, effort, and purpose come together.
f) The uncertainty and challenge itself— knowing that growth happens outside comfort zones keeps the journey exciting.
